Healthy Families Program

HF Team and certificate

Healthy Families is a nationally accredited home visitation program that offers free in home visits to parent(s) expecting a baby or with a newborn infant. The goal of the program is to develop a trusting relationship with parents and partner with them to monitor normal child growth and development, improve positive parenting and family communication skills, and promote school readiness.  Home visitors are nurses and teachers specially trained to work with children and families.

Healthy Families services are voluntary, intensive, and long-term (3 to 5 years after the birth of the baby).

Positive outcomes of the program include:

  • Reduced child abuse
  • Decreased pre-term, low birth weight babies
  • Improved parent-child interactions
  • School readiness
  • Increased connection to community resources
