West Nile Virus Surveillance

West Nile Virus Surveillance is underway again in Sioux County. One component of the surveillance includes drawing blood from a flock of eight sentinel chickens. The blood samples are sent to the University Hygienic Lab for testing. The chickens arrived in Sioux County this past week. For the past two years, Northwestern College has collaborated with Community Health Partners in the annual surveillance project.
