Healthy Families

Healthy Families is an intensive home visitation program targeting pregnant women and women with children 0-5. The goal of Healthy Families is to support and strengthen families so children can develop and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

Research has shown that the first three years of a child’s life are the most important for cognitive development and relationship formation. Healthy Families believes that parents are the best teachers a child can have. Family Support Workers work intensively with families in the home—monitoring growth and development and providing information and tools—to empower parents to help their children be the best they can be.

Healthy Families is a voluntary program offered at no cost through Northwest Iowa Empowerment funding. Families may enroll pre-natally or within the first 2 months of a baby’s birth. Admission to the program is contingent on family need and staff availablilty.
